February 2nd, 2019 · No Comments

You have that big date that is coming over for Valentine’s Day dinner and everything needs to be perfect. You want to make sure you look good, smell good and cook well. Aren’t you forgetting something? What about the house cleaning?

It is so important that your home looks great and is clean for your big date on Valentine’s Day. After all, if this is the person’s first time seeing your home, the first impression goes a long way. A properly cleaned home will help showcase a few things:

  1. Your responsible
  2. You care enough about the person that you want to impress them with a clean/organized home
  3. You take pride in appearance
  4. Your good looks extend to your home and vice versa

The areas of the home that your date will notice the most:

  • Kitchen
  • Bathroom
  • Living Room
  • Bedroom

Why is the kitchen first on the list? You brought your date over so that you could cook them dinner. Most homes have open layouts that allow you to entertain and cook at the same time. He or she is going to be watching you in the kitchen. Beyond just looking at you, make sure the countertops have been sprayed with 409 and wiped down. The stove top should be clean and free of any grime. You should not have any dirty dishes on the counter or in the sink. These should have already been cleaned and put away in the cupboards. Also, make sure the floor has been mopped. The last thing you want is your date’s walking on a dirty floor.

A good bathroom cleaning is essential. If you spend any significant time at your house, surely your date will need to use the bathroom. Girls in particular will notice everything in a bathroom. Make sure to clean the toilet. This does not mean a simple scrubbing of the inside. Make sure to disinfect and wipe down the outside surface of the toilet. When your date goes to wash their hands, they should be using a clean sink. This means you need to scrub it clean to make sure there aren’t any hairs or toothpaste residue remaining. Further, your date will look at themselves in the mirror before they leave the bathroom. Use windex to make sure that the mirrors are spotless.

Will you be watching television in the living room? If so, make sure all objects in the room have been dusted and the floor has been vacuumed or mopped. The couch should appear clean and organized. This means the pillows should be placed on it in an orderly fashion. Add a throw blanket to the couch if you want to add some style.

Don’t forget the bedroom cleaning. Chances are that the night is going pretty well if your date sees inside your bedroom. Don’t mess it up here!

Again, the floors should be vacuumed or mopped depending on what kind of floor you have. All of the objects in the room (TV, night stands, light fixtures, ceiling fan, etc.) should be dusted. And of course, the bed should be properly made and organized with clean linens.

Follow the quick house cleaning tips above and make a great impression with your Valentine’s Day date. If you don’t have time to do it yourself, call us to do it for you. You can still take the credit for the clean home!
