It’s finally here! Spring has arrived and it’s starting to look beautiful and feel great outside. What about the inside of your home? After a long cold winter spending lots of time inside, it’s probably time to do a deep cleaning – also known as spring cleaning during this time of the year. Start the spring time off right by refreshing your home and giving it a good clean. If you don’t know where to start, we’ve provided a spring cleaning check list to help ease any procrastinating:
1. Kitchen Cabinets
Dirt tends to accumulate inside of the cabinets from regular everyday use of putting things inside and taking them out. Further, the cabinets can get grimy from the heat and steam that come from the stove when you cook.
2. Windows
Wipe well with Windex until all smudges are gone. We recommend doing this on a cloudy day so that the sun does not dry the product before you are done cleaning .
3. Kitchen & Bathroom Countertops
Our everyday use of these areas can get them dirty quickly. Try using 409 to spray the countertops all over. Let the product sit for a minute and then wipe away the mess.
4. Floors
Be sure to vacuum or mop your floors depending on your flooring type.
5. Bedding
While sheets and pillows should be washed every 2 weeks, make sure they are put in the laundry and cleaned. It is also a good idea to wash pillows and comforters (make sure your read the labels one these items and follow with necessary care).
6. Stainless Steel Appliances
We highly recommend only using specialty products to clean stainless steel appliances as some products may damage the stainless steel. An example of a specialty spray for these types of products is Homax Stainless Steel Magic Aerosol.
7. Tile Surfaces
A simple self-made cleaning mix of baking soda and water can be used to clean tile and grout.
8. Refrigerator Interior and Exterior
Pull everything out of the fridge and clean each shelf. It is incredible how much gets spilled over the course of the year. In addition to cleaning the face of the refrigerator, pull it away from the wall and clean the sides.
9. Oven
All of those wonderful dinners you cooked for the family during the winter holidays probably left a bit of a mess inside of the oven. Use an oven cleaning spray to tackle the grime and break-up the tough spots that are stuck to your oven.
10. Washing Machine
Don’t make the mistake of washing your clothes inside of a washing machine that smells. To do this, run a cycle with hot water and add white vinegar and baking soda. Let the cleaning agent rest for 30-60 minutes. Once this is done, restart a new cycle, let the water drain out and use a cloth to dry the inside of the machine.
